Biography

Growing up as a child in Orange County, CA, I vividly recall my first bicycle: a forest green Schwinn Sting-Ray complete with iridescent, sparkling white banana seat, U-handle bars, a large orange pennant and card spokes. Nice. The memory of my next bike was equally as formidable: a metallic blue Nishiki ten-speed with rear iron paper delivery rack upon which was fastened daily a large saxophone case with 2 bungie cords. Let’s just say that this look was not a big hit with the ladies. Fast forward through college whereupon I took a little cycling hiatus to concentrate on playing intercollegiate water polo. It was finally in graduate school that I had the pleasure of cruising on the back roads of San Francisco’s Mount Tamalpais, perhaps the birthplace of modern day mountain biking. My steed of choice: a fire engine red Peugeot Orient Express which was a ton of fun. No, really, it weighed a ton. Skip through some years doing triathlon races and we come to the present day where I have been training/racing with SCCA/Starbucks Cycling Team since 2009. I have had a blast enjoying the camaraderie of great teammates, and the collective racing wisdom from the seasoned veterans continues to be a valued resource for me as I try to improve each year.

When I am not “passing gas” as an anesthesiologist at Swedish Edmonds Hospital, I also like spending time with my family, skiing, golfing, swimming and wake surfing.
