Team: Laura Fife
Biography
Laura grew up in the Sandia Mountains outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico, where one of her earlier cycling experiences consisted of piling onto a pedal wagon (a tricycle attached to a small wagon) with her brother and two sisters and bombing headlong down a steep forest service road with no brakes. That she is alive today is either the result of dumb luck or, as she would like to believe, her early developing bike handling skills.
Laura has been an avid cyclist all her life, and her longest ride was from Seattle to Boston. The lowlight of this trip was having to perform self-surgery in a motel room somewhere near Big Sky, Montana on the world’s largest saddle sore. Despite that delicate roadbump, Laura kept riding and decided to try racing last year after watching her partner Lee tear it up on the Cat 3 circuit. She is very excited to be a member of a phenomenal group of men and women on Team Starbucks and is hoping that her biking experiences in childhood will keep her out of trouble in the pack.
